born in 1958 in the picturesque Schuvalovo on
the outskirts of St. Petersburg to a German-Russian family of artists.
From a young age, Ms. Pachomova received drawing lessons from her famous father, the well-known and highly regarded Russian master of Arts Alexei Pachomov (A.F. Pachomov, 1900-1973). She continued her education in painting, culminating in a five-year course of studies at the eminent Russian Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg.
Starting in the early 80's, shortly after the completion of her studies at the Academy of Arts, Pachomova realizes her greatest affinity for watercolours, gouache and tusche as her medium of choice to bring her artistic vision to its full expression.
In 1981, the family moves from the bucolic ideal of Schuvalovo to the unloved big city atmosphere of St. Petersburg. The memory of this idyllic paradise of her childhood remains with Ms. Pachomova, finding magnificent expression within each one of her artworks. Her paintings of the many and varied palatial gardens in and surrounding the city bear ample testament to this paradisiacal vision of her home. Her poetic paintings, lightly interjected with small hints of melancholy and her own finely honed sense of humour, transport the admirer back to her own childhood, be it in her paintings or her artwork for children's books or volumes of poetry.
During a visit to Germany in 1988, Pachomova lends her unique expressive gift to the palatial gardens
surrounding Berlin, painting sublime watercolours for each one. A selection of her works, created in Germany and St. Petersburg, were premiered in 1998 in Berlin. Another exhibition followed in
2002 among the Roman baths of the palace of Sanssouci in Potsdam.
A fascinating artistic vision radiates from each one of Pachomova's works. A dreamlike reality cloaks the admirer in a veil of subtle humour, which in its subtlety brings a certain wistful
elegance to the mind. No crass declarations or statements are to be found here, only a deep emotive feeling of true art. Her paintings are an Epos without words, Homeric hymns sung by colour
alone.
